Tempest Control App (TCA) brings the full feature-set of System T into a software application with direct control of Tempest Engines. TCA is available free of charge for Offline showfile configuration and Remote connectivity to external control surfaces. With the optional Online licence, it becomes possible for TCA to directly control Tempest Engines and Dante networks. Update client machines previously running TCA V4.0.15 or older T-SOLSA versions to V4.1.12 TCA software.

Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 operating system with .NET V4.7.2 or later installed. Installations of the Windows operating systems listed above may be run on Intel-based Apple Mac computers using a multi-boot utility such as Bootcamp or virtual environments such as Parallels. The hardware requirements listed below still apply to these environments. Note that the Windows Data Protection API implementation means a new installation of Windows on the same PC will not be able to decrypt data from a previous install. Postup instalace
- Locate the SSL TCA V4.1.12 Installer.exe file and double-click to launch. Dialogue boxes will appear asking you to progress the install, following onscreen instructions.
- This installation includes updated FTDI drivers. Partway through the install, the Device Driver Installation Wizard window will appear. Follow onscreen instructions to install/update these drivers.
- Upon completion of the installation, a dialogue box will appear asking you to select Finish. Once this is done, the program is ready to launch. Please note that you may need to configure network adapters before launching, as detailed in later sections of this document.

Following Microsoft’s advice for apps within Windows 10, there are some changes to the installer: no automatic Desktop shortcut, no version numbers in Start Menu shortcuts, no Start Menu shortcuts to the uninstallers. If a shortcut is required, this can be created using Windows with a shortcut to SystemStartSequencer.exe located in C:\Program Files\Solid State Logic\SystemT. This shortcut can be renamed accordingly. The TCA version number may be found in the properties of this file or from the Menu>Setup>Service>Admin>About GUI within the application. If you need to uninstall TCA, please do this through the built-in Settings>Apps & Features tools within Windows.

When TCA is launched, the TCA Application Manager window appears first. This provides the ability to choose the specific apps that load by default with TCA, improving performance by only loading the required apps. Additional apps can be started using the individual buttons. Apps return to their previous display locations when launched. In multiple display setups, Reset Positions To Main Screen moves all TCA app windows to the main display as configured in Windows. If Load Minimised is selected, apps will be minimised to the Windows taskbar when started.
TCA Network Adapter Selection
Visible in Menu>Setup>Service>Network. All adapters available from the operating system when TCA is started will be displayed and selectable for different software services. Remote mode requires configuration/selection of the Surface Remote adapter only. Configuration of the relevant network adapter settings must be completed in Windows Control Panel prior to TCA being launched. Once this is done, see the later instructions below for connecting to the console in Remote mode.
TCA Offline Mode
When using TCA offline to prepare showfiles, the I/O Database, Tempest Engine Config, and Surface Config files must be loaded from the target console into TCA. With the improvements in V3.1 onwards around VTL and dynamic dual domain routing listed above, the Tempest Engine Config file must match the I/O database for TCA offline routing to operate and be accurate. TCA Remote Mode
TCA operates in the same way that the previous T-SOLSA application did for the Remote operation of a host console surface. This does not require a licence:
- Create a password: On the console, go to Setup>Options>Surface Remote Connections, double-click the password box to define a password. If required, enable Auto authorise to slot 1, providing the ability to skip step 3 of this process.
- Log in from TCA: In TCA, launch the setup application window, then go to Setup>Options>Surface Remote Connections, set to REMOTE mode, and press to connect to an available slot.
- Allow the connection: On the console Surface Remote Connections tab, click to allow the requested TCA connection.
- Sync the console layers: If you wish to push the console user layers from the main to TCA in slot 1 or 2, on the console, go to Setup> Layer Manager and hold the Sync button in the right-side menu bar.
TCA Online Mode
Online mode requires a paid-for licence available via your local SSL distributor or SSL office, as well as further configuration of Dante Control and OCP network services, etc. Refer to the dedicated setup guide on the SSL Support Site for further information: STAN-024 TCA Online Mode Configuration. This requires ‘Broadcast User’ access to the site. If you do not have this access level, request access from SSL Support by completing tento formulář.
Known Issue: Multiple Touchscreens
If multiple touchscreens are connected to the host PC running TCA, it will be necessary to identify and map the touch layer for each screen. Open the legacy Control Panel (press Start and search for Control Panel), then search for and select “Tablet PC Settings”. Select “Setup” then follow the instructions. This process may need to be repeated if the touch connections from the screens to the PC are remade. Use of multiple SSL console-supported touchscreens associated with a screen configuration file requires manual configuration of the file.
