Nadview

This document will assist a first-time user to send and receive a 10-Vyte pack (via UART) using the RFS ZETAPLUS modules in a terminal window. For this example, we will send a packet containing the ASCII characters HELLOWORLD” in the byte values.

ZETAPLUS EXAMPLE INSTRUCTION

Please Note: The ZETAPLUS has a shutdown pin that must be connect to GND to wake the module.

Terminál
Set up two separate terminal windows with the parameters pictured in the above image. Make sure that you have the correct COMM PORTS selected and then click on the CONNECT button in the left-hand corner.

Receiver (Part 1)
Its is first required to set the parameters for receive mode. This is achieved using the command “ATR” followed by the size of the packet which you wish to receive. For this example, we want to receive he word “HELLOWORLD”, therefore a 10-byte packet is required. The command that we send to the module via terminal is:

This can be seen in the below figure of the TERMINAL window. Please be aware that when using some instances of Terminal, it is required to use “#” instead of <space> or <carriage return>. This will also place the module into receive mode.
Please Note: On the ZETAPLUS module you can also set the channel (in 250KHz increments) on which you wish to receive. This is also set in the ATR command before the length of the data packet. For example, to transmit on channel 2 send the command.

After the receiver parameters, have been set and the receiver has been placed into the correct mode, you are now able to send the data packet from the transmitter.

After you have sent the packet via the transmitter, the receiver will output the data through the TX (UART) pin to the RX (UART) of the host (in this case PC with TERMINAL). The receiver will automatically start the outputted data with #R (to signify the start of a new packet) follow by the RSSI value (value between 0-255).

To reduce current consumption, the ATM command can be used, the below example shows how to set the receiver to standard RX mode. By changing the value to 2 you can set the module into a receiver/transmit mode for fast transceiver operations. By setting the value to 3 this will place the module into low power sleep mode (NOTE: The receiver will not receive in this mode). rf -solutions-433MHz-ZETAPLUS-Smart-Transceiver-Module- (6)
