To set a reference temperature, navigate to the 'Ref.Temp' menu, select 'Set', choose an animal slot, and scan the chip five times. The device averages these readings to create the reference baseline.
For equines where the chip is implanted intramuscularly, the reading is close to rectal temperature. For domestic pets with subcutaneous implants, the temperature is influenced by the environment and serves as a reference for variation rather than an absolute core temperature.
