1. Úvod

The Plustek OpticFilm 135i is an advanced automatic film and slide scanner designed to digitize your precious 35mm film and slide collections with exceptional clarity and detail. Featuring a new 5-element lens and 7200 dpi optical resolution, it ensures high-quality scans. Its batch scanning capability and infrared dust and scratch removal technology streamline the digitization process, making it efficient and user-friendly. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your OpticFilm 135i scanner.

2. Nastavení

2.1 Vybalení a obsah

Carefully unpack all components from the box. Ensure all items are present before proceeding with installation.

• Plustek OpticFilm 135i Scanner
• 35mm Mounted Slide Holder (for 4 slides)
• 35mm Filmstrip Holder (for 6 frames)
• USB kabel

2.2 Instalace softwaru

Before connecting the scanner to your computer, install the necessary software. The OpticFilm 135i supports both Windows and Mac operating systems.

1. Insert the provided software CD into your computer's optical drive. If your computer does not have an optical drive, download the latest software and drivers from the official Plustek webmísto.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the QuickScan Plus software and scanner drivers.

2.3 Hardwarové připojení

Jakmile je software nainstalován, připojte skener k počítači.

1. Connect the USB cable to the scanner's USB port and to an available USB port on your computer.
2. Připojte napájecí adaptér k napájecímu vstupu skeneru a poté jej zapojte do elektrické zásuvky.
3. Press the Power button on the scanner. The indicator light should illuminate, indicating the scanner is ready.

3.1 Vkládání filmů a diapozitivů

The OpticFilm 135i uses specific holders for different film types. Ensure you use the correct holder and load your media properly.

• For 35mm Mounted Slides: Use the 35mm Mounted Slide Holder. Insert up to four mounted slides into the designated slots.
• For 35mm Filmstrips: Use the 35mm Filmstrip Holder. Open the holder, place your filmstrip (up to six frames) flat within the guides, and close the holder securely.
• For Panoramic or Half-Frame Film: An optional panoramic film holder is available for these specific sizes (up to 226mm in width).

Once loaded, gently insert the film holder into the scanner's front slot until it engages. The scanner will automatically pull the holder in.

3.2 Scanning Process with QuickScan Plus

Launch the QuickScan Plus software on your computer. The software provides an intuitive interface for scanning and managing your images.

1. Vyberte režim skenování: In QuickScan Plus, choose between "Positive" (for slides), "Negative" (for film negatives), or "Custom" for advanced settings.
2. Upravit nastavení (volitelné): You can adjust resolution (up to 7200 dpi), color depth (24-bit or 48-bit), and output format (JPEG, TIFF, PNG, BMP).
3. Zahájit skenování: Click the "Scan" button in the software or press the corresponding button on the scanner (Positive, Negative, Custom). The scanner will automatically feed the film holder and begin scanning.
4. Automatické funkce: The scanner features a built-in infrared channel for automatic dust and scratch removal, significantly improving the quality of older or damaged film.

5. Dávkové skenování: The OpticFilm 135i supports batch scanning, allowing you to scan multiple slides or film frames in one go, enhancing productivity.
6. Review a upravit: After scanning, images will appear in the software's preview window. You can perform basic edits such as auto exposure, white balance, cropping, and applying effects.

7. Uložit a exportovat: Save your scanned images to your desired location. The software also supports direct export to third-party image editing software like Adobe Photoshop or GIMP for further post-processing.

4. Údržba

Pravidelná údržba zajišťuje optimální výkon a dlouhou životnost vašeho skeneru.

• Cleaning the Film Holders: Periodically clean the film holders with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any dust or debris that could affect scan quality.
• Čištění skla skeneru: If you notice streaks or spots on your scans, the scanner's internal glass surface may need cleaning. Refer to the detailed user guide for instructions on how to safely access and clean the glass. Use a specialized lens cleaning solution and a microfiber cloth.
• Aktualizace softwaru: Regularly check for and install software and driver updates from the Plustek website to ensure compatibility and access to the latest features and improvements.
• Skladování: Pokud skener nepoužíváte, skladujte jej v čistém a suchém prostředí mimo dosah přímého slunečního záření a extrémních teplot.

5. Řešení problémů

Tato část se zabývá běžnými problémy, se kterými se můžete setkat, a nabízí řešení.

• Skener nebyl detekován:
  • Ujistěte se, že je kabel USB bezpečně připojen ke skeneru i k počítači.
  • Ověřte, zda je připojen napájecí adaptér a zda je skener zapnutý.
  • Reinstall the scanner drivers and QuickScan Plus software.
  • Zkuste se připojit k jinému portu USB na počítači.
• Poor Scan Quality (Dust/Scratches):
  • Ensure the film/slides are clean before scanning. Use a soft brush or air blower to remove loose dust.
  • Verify that the "Dust & Scratch Removal" feature is enabled in the QuickScan Plus software.
  • Clean the film holders and the scanner's internal glass surface as described in the Maintenance section.
• Film Holder Not Feeding:
  • Ensure the film holder is inserted correctly and gently into the scanner's slot until it engages. Do not force it.
  • Check for any obstructions in the film holder slot.
  • Restart the scanner and the QuickScan Plus software.

  • Ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements (e.g., Windows 7 or later).

  • For severely faded film, advanced editing in third-party software may be required.
