Upon unboxing, the mat may have some creases due to packaging. To ensure it lays flat and performs optimally, follow these steps:

1. Unfold the mat and lay it flat.
2. If creases are present, gently fold the mat in reverse along the crease and flatten it firmly.
3. Place a heavy object, such as the litter box itself, on the mat to help it settle.
4. Allow at least 24 hours for the mat to fully flatten.
5. Position the mat directly in front of your cat's litter box.
